1. Water Powered Car
A company in Japan called Genepax has developed a water-powered vehicle through its unique WES (Water Energy System) technology. Through a membrane electrode assembly, Genepax's prototype breaks down water into hydrogen and oxygen through a chemical reaction. The hydrogen is then uses to fuel the car. Currently, their water-fueled car costs about $18,700. However, Genepax claims that if granted mass production, these cars may be available for less than $5,000.

2. Wind Energy
Fullerton engineer Doug Selsam is slowly revolutionizing the way we look at wind power. Selsam's windmills, called SuperTwin Turbines, only use two or more small rotors on a single generator, and produce more power at a lesser cost. They are also flexible to adjust to angles that maximize wind power. The SuperTwin Turbine is not yet widely available, but Selsam is determined to make it a common source of energy. In an interview with PopSci, he described his windmill as the "pedestal fan model of energy."

3. Cancer Vaccine
Current research is aimed at developing drugs that aid the body in fighting cancer. Cancer vaccines would use the body's own natural antibodies to attack cancer cells. PopSci.com reports that after discovering a way to change the immune cells while in the body, a single pill or shot would cause the body to battle cancer on its own.
